“Her husband Joseph, was a just man...” Matthew 1:19. What is a “just” man? ::
::
“In all that he does, he prospers.” Psalm 1:3 ::
::
To understand Joseph as “just” Pope Benedict XVI states we must understand his “whole life was lived according to Sacred Scripture.” ::
::
Psalm 1 then is the picture of the “just” man, the spiritual Joseph. He is like a tree, planted beside flowing waters...He maintains living contact with the word of God. ::
::
You have heard it said: “You are what you eat.” Joseph ate only the word of God. In the morning he rose before the sun, and while his house was sleeping, he offered the Psalms from memory as a prayer offering to God each day. Later, when he returned from a hard days labor, instead of “unplugging” and “vegging out”, Joseph chooses to choose that which will make him healthy. At the end of the day, before he sleeps, he chooses Scriptures as the last words on his mind. He begins and ends and sustains each day with the word of God. ::
::
🙏🏼How is your spiritual diet? Where do you “go” when you are off and have free time? Imagine what your life could look like if you lived more firmly rooted in God like Joseph. Ask God to help you see the hidden parts of Joseph’s life as you encounter the same moments in your day. ::
::
❤️💛💙Joseph teaches us, by his example, how to live a life in continual adoration of the Lord and to pray without ceasing. He who adored the Savior of the world every minute of his day within his own house, also rose each morning with “Hail Mary” upon his lips and ended each night with “Hail Mary” in his dreams. ::
::
Joseph was just. Her husband was a just man. God choses the just to represent His best. In all that they do, they prosper. ::
::📖 READ Psalm 1, especially verse 3. Consider how often Joseph prayed these words of the Old Testament. Ask God to help you pray them with a heart like Joseph.

The language of faith this draws on the human experience of parents, who are in a way the first representatives of God for man. But this experience also tells us that human parents are fallible and can disfigure the face of fatherhood and motherhood.” CCC 239
::
::
❤️💛💙God chose Joseph to be HIS representative of what His Fatherhood would look like to his Son born in the flesh. He chose a man who was so holy, so loyal, so masculine, he would not “disfigure the face of fatherhood.” He chose Joseph. Just as He chose Mary. They were two extraordinary people. As such, they have become the face of fatherhood and motherhood to us ALL. ::
::
Can you imagine being asked to represent God’s image of parenthood to Jesus? Everything the Christ child would come to know of earthly life would be through the hearts, eyes, hands and mouths of Joseph and Mary. ::
::
In a special way, parents have this same responsibility to reflect the virtues of these two parents of God to their own children. The Church reminds us as parents we “are in a way the first representatives of God for man.”
::
::
🙏🏼Ask the Lord, how am I doing representing you to the children I know? If there is one thing God the Father could give you to make you more virtuous what would you ask Him for?
::
::
PONDER: What was it you think Joseph might have prayed for once he realized what God was calling him too. ::
:: #Advent #Meditations #Hope #Week1 #DivineMercy #SaintJoseph #MeditationswithSaints #WakingEve #Sheerah724 #advent2019 #rejoice #holyfamily #holy #fatherhood #romancatholic #christian #catholics #christianity #saint #catholicfaith #maria #mary #saints #catolica #jesus #christ #church #JMJ #eucharist #totustuus Dear children, as I am looking at you who love my Son, my heart is being filled with tenderness. I am blessing you with a motherly blessing. With a motherly blessing, I am also blessing your shepherds - you who speak the words of my Son, who bless with His hands and who love Him so much that you are ready to make every sacrifice for Him with joy. You are following Him, who was the first shepherd, the first missionary. ::
My children, apostles of my love, to live and work for others, for all those whom you love through my Son, is the joy and comfort of earthly life. If through prayer, love and sacrifice the Kingdom of God is in your hearts, then your life is joyful and bright. Among those who love my Son and who love each other through Him, words are not necessary. A gaze is sufficient for the unspoken words and unexpressed feelings to be heard. There where love reigns, time no longer counts. We are with you. ::
My Son knows you and loves you. Love is that which brings you to me and through that love I will come to you and speak to you of the works of salvation. I desire for all of my children to have faith and to feel my motherly love which leads them to Jesus. Therefore, you, my children, wherever you go, illuminate with love and faith as apostles of love. Thank you. ::
//Dec. 2nd Message from Our Lady of Medjugorje ::
:: 💛❤️💙 “A gaze is sufficient…” Once more Our Lady seems to emphasize the power of the eyes. It reminded me of Mother Teresa of Calcutta who, although she worked among the poorest of the poor and the slums of the earth with much adversity and hardship, always exuded such joy. The countenance of a Saint says it all. ::
::
Do your eyes tell a story of love and joy? ::
::
In Numbers 6:24, Moses blesses the children of Israel with the countenance of God that their children might be made known by it to the rest of the world. ::
::
And in Genesis, after Jacob wrestles with the angel, he names the place Peniel, “because I have seen God face to face.” (Gen 32:30). Peniel literally means “the face of God” in Hebrew. ::
::
Why does he say that he has seen God face to face? [CONTINUE READING ON OUR BLOG. LINK IN BIO.] Parents are 'the first representatives of God for man.' (CCC 239) That means God intentionally chose one man—one man in all of human history—to 'represent' fatherhood to Jesus. ::
::
In choosing Joseph, God was careful to choose a man who would not 'disfigure the face of fatherhood' on God's behalf. ::
::
Joseph, then, is more than a white lily; he was a man of profound holiness. He was a man of authentic masculinity. He embodied virtue. He lived quietly “on the inside.” He had a mature interior life and understood obedience as that which fosters intimacy and receptivity with God. He lived the Word of God. He loved God. //Excerpt from Advent Meditations with Joseph Journal ::
::
❤️💛💙 God intentionally chose the father of His Son who would be a man that would authentically represent His Fatherhood and not disfigure it. You and I have been chosen to represent God’s nature to those in our family and communities. By virtue of our baptism we have been chosen to make a virtuous witness. Are we setting an authentic example of God’s love? ::
::
📖 Joseph prayed the Psalms every day, as was (and is today) the habit of Jewish people since the time of King David. He didn’t actually read them, he knew them by heart. Remember, there were no personal printed copies of the scriptures available to people during Jesus’ time. All scriptures were read in the synagogues which meant devout Jews had to memorize the Word of God and keep it in their hearts. How well could you recite the Psalms? READ Psalm 63. How does it apply to your life? What words stand out to you most? ::
::
“Because thy steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise thee.” ::
::
🙏🏼 GOD CAN DO ANYTHING IN YOUR LIFE, WHAT DO YOU WANT HIM TO DO MOST? ::

::
Joseph would’ve needed heroic courage to stay committed to virtue to love Mary on her terms. ::
::
Imagine for a moment what it would be like to protect Jesus as a child. ::
::
Imagine for a moment what it would be like to kneel at the bedside of a six-year old Jesus, knowing God chose you to teach Jesus how to pray. ::
::
“Joseph, son of DAVID, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife.” Matthew 1:20-21

💛❤️💙 Saint Joseph was a man of great loyalty to God. A very Holy man. A devout Orthodox Jewish man. He came from a small town and kept a humble heart. This week, you’re invited to join us as we reflect on what it was like to prepare the heart of the foster father of Jesus to care for the Christ born of flesh. We too must prepare our hearts to receive Him. ::
::
👉🏼JOIN ME each day as we journey into the heart of a true saint. We’ll be reflecting on the Rejoice! Advent Meditations with Joseph and you’re invited to share your journal thoughts. ::

🙏🏼 WHAT IS IT THAT YOU WANT FROM GOD THIS CHRISTMAS?
::
:: #Advent #Meditations #Hope #Week1 #DivineMercy #SaintJoseph #MeditationswithSaints #WakingEve #Sheerah724 This week we prepare our hearts to receive God’s gift of Mercy. At the Advent of His coming, we place our lives, our future, in the hope of Christ’s glory here on earth as it is in Heaven! Jesus, we Trust in you. Holy Spirit, Come, fill our hearts.
