Even “The Best Yes” can’t assure us that our life will live out perfect.
Best-Selling Author and founder of Proverbs 31 Ministries, Lysa TerKeurst, announced Tuesday on her blog that she is seeking a divorce from her husband citing abuse of substances, infidelity, and refusal to be truthful to her and their family.
Lysa’s transparency announcing her upcoming divorce from her “almost” 25-year relationship with her spouse has many sharing in her heartache and many pondering what it means to be a Proverbs 31 woman in a broken world. Most often, it doesn’t look like we expect it would. And that’s Okay.
I share in Lysa’s assessment of battling through the fight of her life, she quotes the Psalmist from Psalm 27:13, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” As children of God, both sons and daughters, we are not promised perfect. We are promised trials. But we are also promised the peace of Jesus.
As one woman who feels called along the same journey of Faith, I salute Lysa for her willingness to be vulnerable and her courage to find true healing in the Lord. I applaud her hope to return even stronger. And I pray for her and her family and so many others who have had to draw closer to Jesus when having to learn how to live with a “No.”
