I have always loved this quote. Having 3 kids myself, I knew first hand what this meant!!
Cleaning with children in the house is like brushing your teeth with Oreos.
Today, as I was praying about so many in the world today who struggle and wonder why following God is so hard, this quote kept nagging at my spirit. Many people are trying to add church and Jesus like sprinkles on ice cream, hoping it will fix the brokenness, but that is not how it works. You must give everything, die to yourself and follow JESUS as your “Lord”!
You can’t keep all the junk, unbelief, and sin in your life and try to add a little Jesus, hoping it all goes away.
He WILL cleanse us but we can’t keep adding the dirt.
The Bible says in Luke 9:23-26:
“Then He said to them all, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.'”
The freedom, joy, healing, belonging, and wholeness I have found in Christ is only found by completely releasing the world and clinging to Jesus.
•You can’t expect real change, complete healing by reading the bible and still fill your head with the junk on TV.
•You can’t expect to feel like a Kings Daughters or a Man of God by going to church and later surfing the internet for things you shouldn’t.
Just like it’s not the tooth brushes fault that my teeth would not get clean if I kept stuffing Oreos in my mouth while I was brushing, it is not JESUS’ fault that we still feel broken when we keep turning to the world and holding onto our old life!
It’s time to make some changes. Clean up your Facebook, change your friends, clean out the music playlist, change the channel…whatever it takes!!
If you want to know the victorious life that JESUS gives, it’s time to deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Him. Quit trying to negotiate with Him. You are the only one who loses when you do.
