Fear has been a constant in my life. Fear of being forgotten. Fear of never measuring up. Fear of not having enough. I am sure I could find reason from my childhood to defend these fears but I have learned the true source.
We have an enemy. He is ever looking for ways to tear down our resistance and declare us a fraud. His joy is to defame us and the One we reflect.
Steal. Kill. Destroy. These actions define his desire and are continually targeted on our behalf. If this were the end of the story we would have reason to despair.
As much as he would like to tear apart every dream, smote out every fire, and crush every hope…his aspirations are limited.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
John 10:10
Give. Life. Renew. The opposite in heart and deed. Provision beyond just living. Jesus promises more!
There is a fire in my heart. At times it blazes red and hot. Lapping up the air surrounding. Free and wild.
Then a chill in the air descends trying to contain and demote. “You are not who you think you are.” You are not meant for greatness.” “Who are you to think you can be anyone special?” Darkness closes in tightly. Strangling and squeezing.
At this moment I am rendered a choice. Do I entertain and accept fear as my forever companion or do I lunge out into the darkness grasping onto the promise of love?
Freedom is never without resistance. Freedom means resistance has come but has not prevailed. A battle is eminent. A war has been waged. How do we fight?! Never let go of His promise.
Fear may have its moments. Threats may come but a promise has been made. A promise of love.
May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Ephesians 3:19-20
Never let go of His promises!!
They are power.
They are promises of gifts. They are promises of life. They are promises of resurrection!
