If you want to slay Goliath, kill the bears

Giant Slayers don’t appear overnight. They’ve built up their strength on the lesser things like slaying lions and bears, Oh My! Like young David, we are asked to trust God in the field of preparation so that we will not fear the day of our appointment, but rather we can walk boldly into it and know we have the victory. What are the bears in your life? Once you overcome the growling bear, the sting of the lion’s roar becomes less frightening. By the time you face your giant, you too can stand boldly before it with the faith and courage of David. This is God’s promise to us that we would walk from victory to victory, and He who promises is faithful. Faith is built in the fields, saving sheep from lions and bears. Learn to make good sport of it and you will have no problem claiming victory over your giants!

“But David said to Saul, ‘Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.’” 1 Samuel 17:34-37
