This Second week of Advent we unite ourselves to the mission of John the Baptist. In a special way, we each are called to prepare the way of the Lord for His Second Coming. Christ is THE Way to immortality. Advent is a reminder that we must prepare our hearts to receive His gift and our eternal life through Him. How will you help prepare the path for others to make room for Him in their hearts? Who will you be a John the Baptist to this week?

::
What we know about Joseph, namely his marriage to Mary and his raising Jesus, are both given to him by God. However, God’s first words to Joseph through the angel remind him of his identity. “Joseph, SON of David, do not fear...” (Matthew 1:20) Joseph was a man who lived in the ORDER and FREEDOM of “relationship, identity, mission.” His identity was determined by God and God alone, whereas, most men live in the DISORDER and CAPTIVITY of “mission, identity, relationship” and their identity is determined by “what they do.” Within this paradigm, most men see their relationship with God as determined not by God, but by who they think they are and what they think they deserve. ::
::
IMAGINE if you REORDERED your life so that you lived more like Joseph and let your identity flow from God alone. Would you want that? ::
::
📖 READ Isaiah 43:1-7 slowly. Read it a few times. How does knowing how much your Father loves his sons and daughters give you confidence to live the life He leads you in? Next time you feel anxious, remember, like Joseph, WHOSE son you are. ::

Silent. Prayerful. Adoration. ::
Silence is necessary for holiness. A mature interior life requires intentionality. In an Age where we fill every empty moment with music and images, out of fear of feeling the emptiness, we have become in danger of losing our very humanity. Human beings need silence like the heart needs oxygen. ::
A mature interior life also requires awareness of what is happening within. St. Augustine speaks of the pattern that plagues modern man, “Late have I loved you, Beauty so ancient...Lo, you were within, but I outside...You were with me, but I was not with you.” God is “within” us, yet our attention is all too often on the external world. We can easily deduce that Joseph was a man who was “with” God. His focus was on his calling as protector and provider but every step was made with awareness of God’s call from within. ::
A mature interior life also requires prayer. “Prayer is a seesaw not a swing. One can swing on their own but to seesaw requires two persons.” Joseph no doubt learned to live in harmony with God’s rhythm. ::
❤️💛💙So when’s the last time you had a SPA day? When have you sought the Lord in SILENCE with PRAYER and ADORATION in hope you will become more aware of His presence “within” you? Find time to sit with Him today in silent adoration - no music - no noise - no distractions - only God and the stillness of your heart beating. Joseph lived a life of quiet adoration of God’s Presence with Him and because of it he lived a righteous man’s life. You and I can too. ::
📖 READ Jeremiah 29:11-14. Seek the Lord with ALL your heart and you will find Him WITHIN. :: #Advent #Meditations #Hope #Week1 #DivineMercy #SaintJoseph #MeditationswithSaints #WakingEve #Sheerah724 #advent2019 #rejoice #holyfamily #holy #fatherhood #romancatholic #christian #catholics #christianity #saint #catholicfaith #maria #mary #saints #catolica #jesus #christ #church #JMJ #eucharist #totustuus That Good Saint Nick 🎅🏼 is more than a fairytale. ::
St. Nicholas of Myra (270 - 343 A.D.) was the only child of a wealthy Greek Christian couple living in what is today the country of Turkey. He was a pious child, and upon the death of his parents Nicholas was raised by an uncle who was a bishop. St. Nicholas grew in holiness, was ordained to the priesthood, and eventually consecrated a bishop. He was famous for generosity to the poor, protection of the wronged, zeal against heresy, and performance of miracles. Many famous legends are told of him. When a poverty-stricken man was to be forced to sell his daughters into slavery, St. Nicholas secretly tossed bags of coins into their home to serve as the girls' dowry, thus enabling them to marry and be provided for. The money was said to have landed in their stockings drying by the fireplace, which is the origin of gifts in children's stockings and shoes at Christmastime. At the Council of Nicea, Nicholas prevailed against the heretic bishop Arius; he was also instrumental in defending the doctrine of Jesus' divinity and formulating the Nicene Creed. His relics are still preserved in the Basilica of St. Nicholas in Italy. On his feast day they emit a miraculous myrrh, which is distributed around the world. Many countries have the custom of making him the secret giver of gifts to children on his feast day. In the United States, for example, he is celebrated as "Santa Claus," who distributes gifts to children on Christmas Eve. St. Nicholas of Myra is the patron saint of many causes, professions, cities, and countries; but he is most notably the patron of children, sailors, prisoners, and maidens seeking to marry. His feast day is December 6th.
::
We’ve always told our children the truth about Santa Claus. He’s a real person who died long ago but whose spirit lives on in those who choose to partner with the Holy Spirit. Though he may not slide down chimneys, he’s still behind all the Christmas magic as he partners with the angels from his place in Heaven to bring good gifts to men. After all, this is what saints do! #feastday #stnicholas Love these freebies at stnicholascenter.org Joseph is a Man’s Man. He was a man of great virtue. He had to be. He was CHOSEN by God for protection. Matthew 2:13-14 clearly illustrates Joseph’s calling as PROTECTOR. “Rise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt.” Joseph is a man of obedience. He does what God asks of Him IMMEDIATELY. Once Joseph knew it was God speaking, his only response was YES. ::
In a world that no longer values obedience as a virtue, where we are told “Life is short. Do whatever makes you happy,” Joseph reminds us obedience is to a person not a task. He responds to God’s calls out of relationship. 🙏🏼IMAGINE if you could hear God speak to you as Joseph heard God speak to him. Would your life, your marriage, your family, and your virtue be better or worse if you actually had that type of relationship with God? Now is the time to ask that question. ::
Every dream Joseph receives is a message of protection and discernment. He is a man of sharp discernment. “Rise, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel.” When he learns Archelaus reigns in Judea after his father Herod, Jospeh discerns it is not safe to settle in Judea and instead goes to Galilee. Joseph not only has God’s favor as protector of both mother and child but also God’s wisdom to discern the safest way. ❤️💛💙You and I are invited to receive such wisdom for our own life’s journey to discern where the illuminated path of God leads and which places to avoid for our own safety. HOW WELL DO YOU RESPOND TO GOD’s CALL FOR DISCERNMENT? ::
Joseph was also protector of Mary’s virtues. As a man of virtue it would follow that he protected the virtues of those entrusted to him, namely Mary’s innocence or virginity. Pope Benedict XVI writes, “It follows that God, by giving Joseph to the Virgin, did not give him to her only as a companion for life, a witness of her virginity and protector of her honor.” While living completely his full identity as husband, Joseph chose to love Mary within the fullness of God’s plan for HER. Joseph protected Mary by loving her as God would have him do. Joseph loves Mary on HER term, not his. [Continue Reading on Our Blog Site @SheerahMinistries.com- LINK IN BIO] “Her husband Joseph, was a just man...” Matthew 1:19. What is a “just” man? ::
::
“In all that he does, he prospers.” Psalm 1:3 ::
::
To understand Joseph as “just” Pope Benedict XVI states we must understand his “whole life was lived according to Sacred Scripture.” ::
::
Psalm 1 then is the picture of the “just” man, the spiritual Joseph. He is like a tree, planted beside flowing waters...He maintains living contact with the word of God. ::
::
You have heard it said: “You are what you eat.” Joseph ate only the word of God. In the morning he rose before the sun, and while his house was sleeping, he offered the Psalms from memory as a prayer offering to God each day. Later, when he returned from a hard days labor, instead of “unplugging” and “vegging out”, Joseph chooses to choose that which will make him healthy. At the end of the day, before he sleeps, he chooses Scriptures as the last words on his mind. He begins and ends and sustains each day with the word of God. ::
::
🙏🏼How is your spiritual diet? Where do you “go” when you are off and have free time? Imagine what your life could look like if you lived more firmly rooted in God like Joseph. Ask God to help you see the hidden parts of Joseph’s life as you encounter the same moments in your day. ::
::
❤️💛💙Joseph teaches us, by his example, how to live a life in continual adoration of the Lord and to pray without ceasing. He who adored the Savior of the world every minute of his day within his own house, also rose each morning with “Hail Mary” upon his lips and ended each night with “Hail Mary” in his dreams. ::
::
Joseph was just. Her husband was a just man. God choses the just to represent His best. In all that they do, they prosper. ::
::📖 READ Psalm 1, especially verse 3. Consider how often Joseph prayed these words of the Old Testament. Ask God to help you pray them with a heart like Joseph.
